The dataset
Where the figures come from, what the public file does not contain, how the two scales are handled, and what the processed version costs.
The source
BER Public Search dataset — Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), under CC BY 4.0 as stated by the producer on data.gov.ie. Version 2026-09-19, copied 2026-09-19. The full file — 252 columns, 1,445,647 rows, 1.5 GB of text — is free from SEAI, with no account and no key.
⛔ What the public file does not contain
- No address and no certificate number. So this site cannot look up a single dwelling, and does not pretend to.
- No small-area code. The column
SA_Codeexists and is empty on all 1,445,647 rows — we checked the raw lines. County is the finest geography available. - No figure under 11 certificates is shown on any page — and 3 Dublin postal districts (14 certificates in all) get no page for that reason.
⭐ Two rating scales, never added together
Ireland introduced a new scale (A0, A, B, C, D, E, F, G) alongside the 2009 scale (A1…G). In 2026 the register received 61,005 certificates on the 2009 scale and 69,738 on the 2026 scale. Adding « B » to « B1+B2+B3 » would produce a number that exists nowhere, so every page shows the two distributions apart and leads with kWh/m²/yr, which does not change with the scale.
What we publish
| Certificates | 1,445,647 |
| Counties and Dublin districts | 55 |
| Pages by county | 52 |
| Pages by rating | 21 |
| Pages by period | 10 |
| Machine fragments | 52 |
How the figures are made
- Medians by rank, checked at ingest time against an independent calculation — never an average wearing a median's name.
- 27 of the 252 columns are kept: the ones that vary from county to county and that no official table publishes (U-values, renewable ratio, CO₂, floor area).
- Year of construction is used as published; 9 certificates carry an impossible year and are excluded from the period bands only.
Taking the dataset
The pages and the machine files are free and stay free, and the raw file is free from SEAI. What is paid for is the processed layer: fields normalised, scales separated, medians computed and checked, delivered as one file.
- One county — € 250
- All of Ireland — € 700
- A link with a second register — € 2,500
- One dated county report — € 19
The service level we impose on ourselves
Regulation (EU) 2023/138 requires Member States to publish certain datasets — so-called high-value — free of charge, machine-readable, with an API and bulk download. We apply that level to this register, whether the law requires it or not.
- Free of charge — every page and every machine file on this site is freely accessible, with no account and no key.
- Machine-readable — manifest, field schema, real sample.
- With an API — 6 callable tools, described with their input schema and wired into the page for an agent.
- And as a bulk download — 52 fragments covering the whole dataset, enumerable and free.
⚠️ This register is not designated « high-value » in the legal sense: it is a service level we impose on ourselves, not a regulatory guarantee. Details for agents · catalogue.
