Press note — 2026-09
Ireland is changing its energy rating scale, and the register is split almost in half this year.
The SEAI public BER file, version 2026-09-19, holds 1,445,647 certificates. In 2026 alone, 69,738 were issued on the new A0–G scale and 61,005 on the 2009 A1–G scale.
Across the whole register the median rated dwelling uses 178 kWh/m²/yr; the median rating on the 2009 scale is C3, and 18.6% of certificates are E, F or G.
Reading and limits
- The unit is a certificate, not a dwelling.
- The two scales are not comparable class by class; kWh/m²/yr is.
- The public file has no address and no small-area code: county is the finest geography available.
Every figure can be counted again: the home page for the country, the counties, the periods of construction.
